We could all use a little more compassion in our lives, and our gardens and farms are no exception. What does it mean to grow with compassion? How can we mindfully manage our gardens for a more holistic and integrated experience in our own lives? Farmer Becca will explore these questions through her own experiences navigating the challenges of learning to grow in our Houston climate and how ultimately creating a whole farm-ecosystem has benefitted Sown & Grown’s productivity (and can benefit your garden, too!).
Becca Verm is an urban farmer and educator here in her native city of Houston, TX. After pursuing a formal background in philosophy and public policy, she diverged from academic pursuits to study the fine art of soil-stained hands. She has apprenticed on several permaculture-based farms, both abroad and in Texas, and now applies those principles in her own business. Her farm and nursery, Sown & Grown, is rooted in compassionate farming practices and labored over with love.
